walls

in my small world i sat
content
to love those inside
these walls i built
with fear
for love hurts
and love lost
destroys
so i built my walls
and sat
safe
content

then in you came
inside my walls
and down they fell
and i watched your pain
remembered love
remembered loss
remembered death desired
remembered all that left
me here
in my small world
content

and i embraced the pain
embraced the love
and moved beyond
looked outside my walls
and wanted more
and grew my heart
to hold the world
and love it all

these fallen walls
i won’t rebuild
i’ve made a choice
to love
to live

Anne...how blessed you were, with a second chance.  Our walls do not always protect us - sometimes they make the good things that we could enjoy stay a stone's throw away...

Bless you...
