On fortune's wheel the die is cast
while fates align to steal the past
so take your chance and live to feel
the die is cast on fortune's wheel

Excitement builds for fortune spins
and calls to those, with chance of wins
win, deal or lose the die is cast
as fortunes bold, are won at last

Then spin again, this turn is lost
for who will win the fortune tossed
and who will strive to force the deal
and change the hand of fortune's wheel

Despair and hope are mingled there
in chance, to fall or climb the stair
upon the wheel the die is tossed
and who will live to count the cost

Let's spin once more - luck's favours win
defeat the Fates or Gods within
the die is cast and who can feel
the luck return to fortune's wheel

Once more, once more, to Fates outcast;
who steal the promise of the past
excitement builds for fortune wins,
the die is cast - the wheel still spins.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

I have missed you.

I was about to go typing after you, m'friend.

This is one of my favorite mythologies, Fortuna (witch with a capital "b") and her dreaded wheel...

You made me smile when I didn't want to, how closely we relate on this one.

HUGS to you...

Kethry, even though I don't know much about the subject, I love the way you wrote this. I love the way you rhyme. It's beautiful and seems to just flow along. I loved reading it.
Hugs,
Ethel

Kethry,

I liked this a great deal even before Karen's revelation...and more so, to know you have captured mythology?

I am so unread, I find this facinating enough to give serious thought to some research and reading...

Thank you for this and thank Karen, too.

Hugs, Pat

I always know I'll find excellence when I click on your name... I just never know what path your thoughts will lead me down. *S*

I like this so much, Keth... well done! *S*

hey there Keth. . . where have you been??

this is great work my friend. . . just one small thing. . . the rhythm kind of falls in the second to last stanza. . .but, other than that, well done, good use of the idea. . . I like it. . .

don't be a stranger, ok???

You've been away,
improving upon yourself.
It shows.
It looks good on you.

Beloved one what is it about you? You have two styles of writing, outstandingly good and exceptionally good, and this is exceptional. I know you think that because I say frequently how good your writing is it isn’t as special as all that. Believe me beloved one, it is, you lift the form to a higher level, you weave words into complete masterpieces. I don’t get in here enough, and you know why that is, I believe there is a time and a place for everything and right now this isn’t mine. But when I’m ready I shall write again, but never as well as you beloved one so don’t imagine it.

So I’m bumping this up to the top of the page where it can garner more replies, as it deserves to do. Exquisite writing darling heart absolutely exquisite

Love you always
And forever

Tomorrow is another day I don't know what it holds
but I can face the future with courage brave and bold
