the garden had been manicured
now it is time for the vessels
to take saturation to a more serious level
dew drops clinging like a broke bitch
adhering themselves to my second skin
I ponderosa the fern linens
which translates to about the same
as laying claim to an empty pitcher
I clog the phone line with box scores
bury the chronic in with the condoms and dust
because there are some women I know
they lay the butter on thick
like almond oil beneath a banana bikini
the place where my fingertips vacation regularly
I listen to the signals they are sending
and return them to sender
I need shudders in the shadows
sweat serenading the friction
not low voltage forecasts
and cluttered locket space

I would apply for a 3 year passage southerly
if the green diamonds were all mine
but they’re not
they belong to the invincible sorrow

when I cradle you tonight
know that I have already
placed a mask upon you
so the illusions that you cast
will all be my own
