A moonbow umbrellas the evening,
So peaceful this nights deep hush,
Stars in the sky seem spattered,
As if from an artists damp brush.
Drifting on untethered waters,
Away from the dark, shadowed shore,
Silhouetted by beams of moonlight,
A swan glides into the moor.
The reeds bow gently in welcome,
As she weaves her way to her mate,
A wake of whispering movement,
Waters stirred now slowly abate.
Nestled together in umber light,
They settle in to their dreams,
Wings embracing the others heart,
Under the moon's softest beams.

Beautiful.  It seems like you have captured the grace and magnificence of the swan with your words, the flow of you poem almost resembles the flow of the waters as the swan glides about it them.  This piece should definitely be included in the book.  Great write and good luck with being accepted.

Most dreamy are these your graceful words that describe the habitat and gentle movement of the swan and her mate. Very very well written.

Bonnie, this is absolutely gorgeous! I really loved the story, but also the wonderful meter and how it flowed as smooth as a swan glides on the water!  Reminded me of the pair of swans across the way in our park. What a great write, my friend!!!

Lovely - I had seven gorgeous swans swimming in front of my house yesterday... It's nesting time, and the yearlings are looking for new homes... It's a beautiful sight... Nicely said, Bonnie...
