We're known for kangaroos and koalas
And a landmark called Ayers Rock
That bloke, the Crocodile Hunter
"Crikey, watch out for that croc!"

A land of wide open spaces
This place is second to none
No longer the best kept secret
This large island in the sun

From the rugged mountain ranges
To the beauty of the reef
The scenery is simply stunning
So breathtaking beyond belief

People marvel at our beaches
As they flock towards the shore
The tourists are like boomerangs
For they keep coming back for more

I am so proud of my country
This place that I call home
I have everything I need here
And I feel no need to roam

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

Hi Sue...

This is so beautiful. I could feel your pride and love for your beautiful country in your poem. I love the pictures....both of them...but I am partial to beaches, being from Florida, I guess. But that kangaroo on the beach was SOOO cute, friend. I loved it.

What's the word for someone like me who wants to come to visit, Sue...other than tourist?  [Interested researcher...]  Will you tell me the places to stay [no shops, please] and take me on a walkabout?  Smiling here...

Sue:  There is no doubt, Australia, is a fascinating and unusual continent.  My son and daughter-in-law spent six months there the last time they went in 1996 and brought back wonderful stories and pictures as well as artifacts.  I don't blame you for not wanting to roam!  Loved your poem.

Hi Sue,
I've just joined in to this site.
I've been to Sydney (Blue Mts.) and Queensland (the Gold Coast and Fraser Island), and I loved the places. Ayers Rock I haven't. Hope to go back there again.

Lovely photos, and poem. Makes me nostalgic.

Well, you know I am just aching to come visit. Great poem that brought many smiles and loved the beautiful pictures.
