Here's what to do when undecided on a gift
as you think of ways to satisfy, avoid a rift.

look high and low for 'the ultimate present'....
when gifts are ordered each year
and the man in red never really appears
something hasn't been wrapt yet
it comes in different shades as clothes
turns out to be off lists you know
can't discard it or throw it out
it's colourless without a doubt.

But the affluent child still has to have
if he doesn't get a Matel or a Lego,
that would be very hard on the ego
toy designers would get all mad
think of all the barbies kids could have
when gifts are on order every holiday season
and kids get what they want for no other reason.

Yet we ask ourselves of the ultimate gift
would a barbie be the cure all of a family rift?

This Christmas was good, lacking any of the material desires of my kids...they were happy for love and time. They know I am trying to save up a down payment for some decent transportation since my car got smashed to pieces. It's been tough lately. Good write Martin. Made me think.

So much wisdom in the reality of what is important in life...and in the world.
Fragile is the ego of man I'm afraid...

the key then is spending some time...maybe taking your kid out to the park as Midnite suggested in her comment on a recent poem of mine...and that's something to work for I guess in the world of the top toy manufacturers
