Faster machine rumbles
it clatters and whirs
Flesh, blood, brain and bone
become zeroes and ones
We escape ourselves,
comfort in the virtual
not the reality

tis true tis true m'friend.

I used to have other ways of escaping me though--but me caught up with me eventually, and oh-the-shape-i-was-in!

(There's a certain moth I know who would love to see this one, I'll pass on the url to her.)

And I was gonna say this is much food for thought but with that imagery? *shudder*
I turn shades of "solyent green" just thinking about it!

Wonderful work!

this one actually kinda made me sad, because i had a friend once who didnt know how to stop at that line that needs to be drawn.....where the net ends and life begins.....and before she knew it she was lost....i mean seriously lost....confused where love was, much like some confuse sex for love....very thought provoking piece here.....i dug it.

Karen love the soylent green reference. I don't mind escaping reality but when the escape becomes a reality of it own.. watchout! Not particularly autobiographical just worried there's alot of people losing souls to the machines

Inked you never read me wrong

Doc not the speed of thought, but high speed cable

enchantingvamp thanks for the reply, I've seen it happen and i've let myself go sometimes but never totally

Ethel that you call me friend is the nicest reply one can give

I suppose that's why I'm not on here as much as I used to be. and that is a very good thing for me. Real life has gotten so much better for me, I don't need to escape as much

Sea i meant the internet in general, see i think this place not as an escape but as a homecoming, a grounding. Thanks for the reply

OH~ can I relate, often to escape from "thinking" too much I log on~! Lately, I've been limiting my exposure....*grin* We all need a little escape every now and then, but when it becomes more real than reality, watch out~!  Good One you~!!!

I responded without reasding your response to Sea~ sheepish grin~~!

I think the internet can be an excellent grounding place, plus it allows us to communicate with people we'd never have the chance to know otherwise, but when you allow it to consume or overshadow the real/thing that's when it can be a problem. Sometimes I think I am guilty of the later, but I'd miss the hell out of my time on line if I stopped cold turkey~! PLUS I'd miss the people.

(sigh) This is so very true, sweet friend, we are all into progress and sometimes we go so fast we forget how we all used to be and it can be so saddening having to change so drastically! (big hugggsssss) So well-said, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Raphael, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Is this about what we might become? The future that is already present? A symbiosis, or more so a synthesis man and machine?

Whatever the future, I hope this poem is part of it.

So much food for thought in your poem and your responses....

A homecoming, a grounding...
that is a compliment to all of us
and our reasons for being here.

Thanks~

Faster, faster!
The speed of write,
presses onward
through the night.
Cyber life sometimes
makes my head spin,
but fortunately my seat
manages to remain planted
in this reality chair.

SEA I'm glad you see it that way too

Kacy excellent stuff but is that what you really look like? There are some good photo programs to get rid of red eye and some good hair removal products for the beard lol just kidding

Thank you Seymour I appreciate it
