A Chiseling Mind

She placed him there, in her mind
carved him out of stone,
gracefully molding his form,
chiseling out the coldness,
as touch brought him to life.

She dressed him in dark,
his paleness stark against the folds.
Her blush dominating his hold
confusing her with each touch.
She graced him with her presence,
candles silhouetting her every move.

~~*~~

Out of words, comes the dance,
a conversation in step,
her mind taking the turns, each element
learned, inspired by the war
that rages inside, coming full circle
to meet him, the player,
and in a moment of weakness
her mind dances to fate,
its tune born again in his arms.

A Sculpture left open to interpretation and each time i've read this, I've seen a different view. But your mind has created interesting images and in this self portrait and an image in your mind
Wonderfully written as always

Moments of weakness sometimes lead to moments of happiness.  Enjoyed Maureen.

lovely, lovely feel to this

a warmth with just a hint of melancholy, something like when a wonderful happening must come to an end

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Maureen, this is beautiful, with a dreamy feel to it. I haven't been on here enough lately. I'm missing too much excellent poetry of all you fine poets. Glad I found this one today...

M, I'm gifting this to my library. It's a first class sculpture, polished and sturdy enough to withstand many readings.
