Friendship’s Benefits
By Larry Chadwick
Inspired by BluesSerenade

Friendships are so common,
And often just assumed.
But nothing proves their worth,
Like grief that does consume.

But when sorrow does impose,
And death once more intrudes;
Then is friendship truly tested,
To see if love now will exude.

The giver feels so helpless,
And the griever exposes need;
Friendship is the life line,
That plants hope as a seed.

And when those tears are mingled,
Hope now begins to sprout.
Making roots that grow deep,
And squeeze out fear and doubt.

January 31, 2003

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Ah Larry...this is wonderful!
Yes, there are times when we expose our needs..
But here at Passions..there is always a friendly ear...
And at times many many real friends with a ready shoulder.
Excellent write!

That verse is so worthy and pulls so tightly~

And when those tears are mingled,

As tears often do...if you only knew!

I am delighted to have inspired this,  thank you Larry~
You're a dear man with a heart of gold.

Sue,
I am okay. But I'm finding my mind to be not so light hearted as it was. I still laugh and have fun but I have found a somber side of life I can't ignore. I can live with that. In the meantime, I'm sure enjoying  prose. Thanks.

Nancy Lee,
And that's what keeps us coming back to thes blue walls. Thanks so much.

Martie,
That's what my mother always says.

Lori,
Somehow dear friend...I think I might know. And bless you, always.

Pat,
You are so faithful. I truly don't deserve it but that doesn't stop me from appreciating it! Thanks.

Scott,
I had no idea! And thank you. *S*

Larry, I'm always glad to see you here. Hope all is well and that we'll keep seeing you on these pages of blue. Your "family of friends" here at PIP misses you when you're gone. God bless...

Ethel,
All is well. Just a pretty silent muse. Plus I've been working 70 hours a week! Thank you for your kind words.

(big hugggsssssssss) That is why I never really left when I almost left Passions after a poet verbally attacked me on Passions, because I knew 99% of everyone truly supported me and I find strength and light here! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, and God Bless Lori and everyone here, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Larry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Noah,
Amazing the impact of one rotten apple. But...the rest, will you figured it out.

Carol,
Welcome to Passions. I hope you love it here half as much as I do. And it is amazing. Thank you.

Dear Larry
We all think about you and will help you.  When we lost a dear person, there is a hole in our heart, what never can fill up.
I hope the friendship we give you is comme a balsum.

A beautiful piece Larry. So much intertwined in our lives, and yet grief and sorrow can bring us close, as you so artfully captured.

And did I read that you're working 70 hours a week Larry?  I can empathize ... the muse has a hard time surfacing when you're putting in those kinds of hours. I'm glad yours rose beyond your work to write these thought-provoking lines. Just lovely.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Susan,
You know I'll take all the bunny hugs I can get! And thank you.

Muys,
You are such a tender hearted friend. I like to think of you as my European Grandmother. And bless you, I do understand. Thanks.

Kit,
I only worked two 70 weeks, fortunately! And the realities of life can be harsh. I am so grateful for friendships here on these blue pages. Thank you for your kindness and friendship.

anne,
And a very important part it is. Thank you. The tagline came from something related to my daughters funeral and has been so comforting to me. Thanks.
