It still hurts deeply in my soul
but I'm finally learning to cope
and each day I look for the sunrise
as I cling to my faith and hope.

I keep on trying every day
sometimes I win, sometimes I lose,
and I know that I'm in control of my life
no matter what I decide to choose.

Each passing day I continue to struggle on
while thanking God for helping me through,
and my prayers remain ever constant...
Lord...please help me in all that I do.

Some days I feel I'm losing my mind
as the ice forms over my heart,
and I feel the coldness settling in
I knew that it would from the start.

This hearts been broken one to many times
and I no longer know if love is true...
I guess you really did teach me something...
I learned how to be cold from you.....

You do what you do and you pay for your sins
and there is no such thing as what might have been,
that's a waste of time, drive a man out of his mind...(Sung by Tim McGraw)

Now, the trick is...
to find that flicker of flame
again, within yourself...

and enjoy the passion
of learning yet to come...

A good write, excellent poetic vent...

Donna, sweet friend, you are so warm and loving that your heart could   never  turn cold. It's just got a chill right now that  he's  caused, but it will get better....

Donna Dear, sounds like you have been going through a great deal. Remember who you truly are--a fine and loving, gentle spirit; however, there is a bit of a downside to that. You feel pain more deeply than most. The slings and arrows of life can cut to the very core of your being.

You expressed your anguish so poetically. It was extremely moving.

Sending you warm and loving hugs and prayers for inner peace,

Linda

Hang in there Gentle Spirit. Love is worth fighting for, bruises will heal and love will be more sweeter still.

Nice touching poem
Hang in there and keep writing;
Love is true ...
once it will return to you

Donna ...even with in the pain of your words...I see the inner strength, resolve and warmth that is you....
I agree with Kari's reply...warm in your own light...heal in the release of the words.
One of lifes hardest lessons is to learn to believe and love ourselves, as much as we do others.
One day at a time girlie...its all we can do.

Donna--We search and search for a certain someone to complete us, to heat us...when all along the lighter was in our own pocket.  You are the light!

But all the positive words in the world can't take away from the ache you feel, like time will.  A true and heartfelt poem, my friend.

Donna, this is one of your best.  I especially liked your last stanza.

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn
