Downbeat on the melody
inhale the tranquil dawn
open the window to let the light in
Before the colors are gone

They only fade if you look away
So keep them closed behind your eyes
Collage them with your nightmares
tattered into a familiar design

Exhale to the chorus
refrain in the midst of the pain
sung sweetly to muddle the meaning
of whatever lyrics the pages retain

This is the part where she cries
and the breeze blows out the flame
Musical interlude: intermission
Pause to reflect on your shame

Until you can sink with the notes
to a deeper, bluer chord
Inhale the white epiphanies
And beg the composer for more

"I don't need to scream for you to deem me aggravation."

Shay, I would so very much like to hear you read this...it is very personal, very deep, and very real...

I have not read a great deal of your writings, yet, but I am sure that will come, in time...
