land of flora and fauna

today,
a lemon sun twisted summer
over December ice,
spilling warm thoughts of
picnics, skinny dipping,
and bathing
in the sun blind

tonight,
a voyeur December moon
peeks through my window,
cold-caressing glass ornaments
with silver eyebeams--
they become fireworks
on my ceiling;

I watch,
swallowing afterglow
with a taste of wine
while somewhere,
embers rise from a fireplace

it's a mind bend,
the contrast of the orbs
where seasons pass
in a day,
dream-gliding between
wisteria
climbing a picket fence
and
icicles
freeze dried on barbed wire

tonight,
I will sleep alone
beneath fireworks
and wait
for the full circle--

there is a season
I've yet to know

"And it was at that age...Poetry arrived in search of me...And something started in my soul."
Pablo Neruda

Oh! my dear. This is absolutely wonderful. What wonderful discriptive phrases. I will definitely not look at these 'orbs' in the same way again. It is a wonderful write S.

this is one of those poems you can
print out and hang on your wall, so
when you wake up everyday, or go
to sleep every nite--you can read it
and reassure yourself, and smile.

breathtaking.

Sandpiper,

This is beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed it and don't know why I didn't see it earlier. Very special, indeed!

Warm regards, Pat
