It’s hard to stop
The bleed of cold
When a Canadian high
Settles stoutly on Kansas plains

Mocking sun
Sets a bright trap for those
Who would crawl against a wall
Trying with lizard like cunning
To warm cold blood,
For its touch is a tease,
Only setting you up
For breath of northern
To wipe away the hope
Of heat.

No hemorrhage here,
And far colder to the north,
Still it oozes through walls and windows
Soaking those bandages with
Stinging flow.

Leaching us

One does get used to the cold
And in time it bites less,
As we bundle ourselves
Protected by layers…

Just as I have learned to do
With you.

Brrrrrrr...I got  REALLY  cold reading this one.
I told you your descriptions are very real, Sir.......

(do you know what I thought of when I read it? My Dad has a dry sense of humor sometimes. When he's cold in their house, and I'm there visiting, my Mom and I don't get as cold as he does. He tells us that we have more  "insulation"  than he has.  We may not be that big, but he's gotten kind of skinny........)

Ethel... thank you again..and today..it is or feels cold here. Was 70 two days ago and today the high might make 34... changes are pretty drastic and it takes a while to adjust.

Hey bud... how goes the winter down by the river? Wearing evrything you own is something I have done more times than I care to talk about..and when it isn't enough and you are still cold... its time to find a bar and soak up some of their heat for a while...
always a good place to watch people too... although it can be a bit depressing if you let it... Stay warm...

I felt the coldness of New Hampshire in winter, and then you gradually clothed me and bundled me tighter in words of knowledge and understanding.

Then you stripped me bare.

You're one of my favorites here, Cpat.

Ron,

I so enjoy this. I really like the "mocking sun" stanza...so creative...
and of course, like everyone else the last line. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

Warm regards, Pat

Zenny.. thank you.. glad you liked. appreciate your reading and taking time to say something.
Wranx... later dude..and someone elses heat is always the best kind, especially if it is shared in a willing way

Sunshine..Freud would have had a time with me I am sure. Not sure if it is just bad typing skills or unknown desires to day other things.. ( laughing)

Pat... thank for the nice words... I'm pleased you find the small things I sscribble out here to be worth reading and commenting on.

Enchantress... well I'll tell you what, you stop sending those down to us in the winter and we'll take the milder ones of summer..in rreturn..we will try and share the southern breezes as they make their way up to us and turn those winter days into coatless respites..  Thanks for reading my friend..and thanks for the nice words.

When the chill winds blow, time to...
oh well, bundle up your heart and all that is attached. Love the way you bleed.
