Listening to every heart

0 posted 2003-01-08 01:36 PM

Cleansing Day

Oddly, today is the day
I shall clean
~ my mental house ~
~ my feeling heart ~
~ my memory banks ~

in my mental house
truth's realization
beckons me to
white dreams,
to lay aside
the black of being sorry,
sorrows of what
happenings weren't to
happen, and what
was not to be

do not set aside
just one day to atone
for the sins of wants
and needs and desires…

you know the ones I mean…
the ones you shouldn't take,
that don't belong to you.

Instead

go toward the bluish light
of white, that which you
can aspire to, in grace
and ritual and aspiration
of right…

should a hand reach out
to take mine…in comfort or
in company…(whether giving
or receiving)
it is ok to accept it
for the moment,
to remember to give it
back to those
who own it.

My feeling heart
has lent itself to maligning times
and propitious twinklings ~
breaking (hearts break) only as
brakes were applied to
moments of rejection and
fallacies, over good gone bad
and bad just going gone,

and I have gained
in losses and expedited
rejection toward better
moments, where my heart
could mend, then wend its
way toward others in an
effort to walk them
through this hall of quaking,
(hearts quake)
just so we could get to
the other side…
for I have traveled it alone
many a time…
so why does trepidation make
my heart beat (hearts beat) faster
even when I know
I need not fear fear…

Now to dust away cobs and
webs from memory banks…
oh sometimes so laden leaden
with memories until
a key unlatches just the right
bank,
and gold spills forth
in memories' sounds
of smells and feels
that rush of
life…

So this is the most
precious of the cleansing, that
which to discard, which to keep,
like old magnetic tapes that
are bent and LP's that have
a scratch,

for I examine each and every
one that comes to surface
with this cleansing,
just to make sure
there is no hope
for resurrecting
any of that particular memory…

ah but those that make me feel
so good…
those I keep in soft folds of
comfort and warmth,

I keep them in smells of Old Spice
and Canoe, Tabu and Chanel…
and fresh baked bread of a Monday
morning,
I keep them wrapped in rays
of golden light playing halos
in a child's hair,
I keep them in your
wide open eyes,
with butterflies laughter
carrying them to the safest
memory bank I have…

for safekeeping, I polish
the key with some spit and shine
and place it safely in my heart till
needed next,
then write myself a note
and place THAT in my mental house

so that I might find it from time to
time,
(Reminder to KJ - clean house)
that whenever
anything other than
a cleansing is required,
like a friend who needs me,
I might find
and share these moments

with you

in a clean house.

This has to be the most remarkable outpouring of feelings I have read of yours.
Half-way through I reached for the kleenex...
and so it is..and so it is..it is.
I am speechless...yes, (hearts break).

smiling.

Even Jesus took the time away from his apostles to meditate and pray. (It always surprises folks to hear the witch talk about JC..chuckle) but yes, how much more needful are we of that time...

wonderful write Kari.

Get a taste of religion. Lick a witch today.

Karilea - I just don't know what to say. This write made me sit back in my chair, remove my reading glasses, and smile through tears. Simply wonderful. hugs, Chris

Karilea, other poems of yours have made me not know what to say, but if I had to talk right now, the words wouldn't come. This is absolutely breath=taking, it's so touching and beautiful........

Is this quick like hot potatoe
or did it build like stewed tomato?
Too early for spring cleaning
a need to move away from someone's leaning?
In any event well spoken
no need to fix what isn't broken.

Deep cleaning is rough on a heart break,
but there comes a time and a sense of worth in doing so.

Enjoyed the rub and the scrub~
and every good thought~  Thanks~

Karilea,
How loved peeking in on your cleansing. Mind if I do some of my own? What a delightful and heart warming piece. Just what I needed this morning. You always seem to know.
I'm keeping this one.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I'm jealous. Of the write, and the fact you have mastered Housecleaning 101 and I'm still stuck on the stupid syllabus.

This is touching and beautiful, Sunshine. *S* The knowing what to let go and what to keep safely... and then doing what you know... I think I need lessons! *S* I think my mental cleansing is much like my physical housekeeping... neat and tidy on the surface, but oh... don't open those closet doors! LOL

I love this... into my library it goes! *S*
