Just ask an angraecum sesquipedale
what it takes to flourish,
not merely survive.
The answers might well teach us
how to go beyond staying alive,
how to really thrive.
As a species, we haven't yet
figured it out.

Each bud must have proper nourishment,
the temperature must be just right.
Purest waters are beneficial,
and always,
life giving light.

Just ask any orchid for
it's Darwinian techniques.
Listen to the angraecums,
I dare you.
Perhaps the symbiotic relationships
of plants and insects and animals
that surround humanity
can give us some clues
to survival.

Just ask an angraecum,
and listen carefully,
for it is a foreign language
to most of us.

****************

An epiphytic orchid, the angraecum sesquipedale, is also called a Star of Bethlehem, or Comet Orchid. It is fertilized by the Hawk moth's 12 to 16" proboscis, as predicted by Darwin, circa 1800's.

Soft, gentle music soothes a flower as much as it does one's soul ...

...  perhaps if one asks the soul as well, an answer may surface.

A great write KC ... true to you.

Thank you, Craig. Yes, music does soothe and nourish, and looking within the heart and soul can provide insight. Have a peace full day.

Ah, the care and feeding of humanity; sometimes just getting past the hatred, jealousy, envy and especially contempt takes so much strength...
draining beauty ~if we let them~

That we all could be happy for one another and nourish each other....

That of course, would be heaven on earth....but we can feed those in our own garden and watch them flourish and flower! Which is in a way selfish, for it is we who get to witness and enjoy the beauty of such little effort of positive reinforcement...

Thanks for this thinking piece...

Hugs, Pat

We humans think we're so clever don't we? Yet we have so much to learn from nature; if only everyone was as good a student as you Kacy.

The scientific name also reminded me of one of my favourite words:

ses·qui·pe·da·lian (sskw-p-dlyn) n.
A long word.

adj. Given to the use of long words.
Long and ponderous; polysyllabic.

There's your useless piece of knowledge for the day!

The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears.

ahhhh Kacy girl...you do a moth proud
you KNOW I love this one...clever, clever
and very cool...
write on my friend..we have much to learn thru your eyes of wise.

Will the wind remember the names it has blown in the past?
With this crutch, its old age and wisdom, it whispers no ... this will be the last.
