Hiding safely
in the olive branches,
out of sight,
out of reach.

That's where I found
sanctuary as a child.
That's where
I find it today,
in the olive trees
of my mind.

We were kids then,
and we fought bravely in
"The Olive Wars."
Sometimes we would shoot those
little olives at each other,
nature's little bullets.
I usually won those battles,
being the smallest, the fastest, and the best
tree climber in the neighborhood.
I always knew there was something special
about those olive branches.
No matter how far out on a limb I went
they seemed to hold me up.
Only once do I remember falling,
and that was because I let go.

In my dreams I still cling
to those olive branches,
for much the same reasons now.
They still offer me
a sense of security,
a sense of hope.
As for those Olive Wars?
I discovered at a tender age
they are not very much fun,
and make such a terrible mess.

We can try and if it doesn't work we'll beat them into submission (peacefully) with the branches.

? Raph, we need to climb a branch and have a talk. I thought we gave up on that tactic?
But I'm smiling at your reply, cuz I know you'd rather sit on that olive branch and watch the stars whiz past you peacefully.

(sigh) If they were black, it wouldn't be so very bad, imagine some gherkin skirmish! (giggles) This is so well-said, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Now, as for me, dear friends, I don't care if they're green or black, I  LOVE  olives. (now I hope we're talking about the same type olives. I'm talking about the ones that come in the jars or cans (black ones). I've never had any right off the tree.
But, Kacy, I loved to climb trees when I was growing up. I'd get into trouble with my Mom for doing it. But, I'd go right back and climb again. There were more boys in the neighborhood, so that's what they wanted to do...when we were young.....

The words conjure up pictures in my mind, and I see you as a child in those branches,  its very appropriate at this time that we should maybe hold out those Olive Branches as a symbol of Peace and Goodwill to all - If you will supply the Olive Branch, I am sure that we can find a Dove to go with it, and lets send them symbolically to all the world leaders as our Christmas Wish List number one request.
At this Festival Time, I wish you, and those that you love a Peaceful and Happy Christmas, with everything you would wish for yourself in the coming New Year.

..such comfort in finding that child's "safe" place, even if for a while--enjoyed!

beautiful parallel drawn here, really, really like this piece

It should be submitted to an inspirational publisher, too, too fine!

my sanctuary was out back, the basketball
court--it is still. this is so refreshing
to know that we're all refugees and we all
need that place to hide when life's been
homosexual. i loved it. and thanks for the
write.

Thanks for reading. Now go play basketball, and jump through some more hoops.

Hmmmm.... I like the thought of knowing those branches would alaways hold you up.
Made this picture perfecly easy to conjur up. I'm thinking I may have to borrow that tree because I know of no such place.

Enjoyed!
