When a hand reaches out, should one
cast aside a gesture as one would trash
upon a two way street going nowhere?

When a glance falls upon a face, and eyes
divert to the pavement, does this mean
the gaze goes unanswered?

If my hand and gaze were offered to you,
would you cast me into the abyss of
emotional garbage....or just simply
allow me to say and feel “hello”.

Might the innocence of the moment
carry the scorn of another year?  A
time when eyes never felt the humanity
of tenderness, of silent grace...

In glance, or touch of a moment most
kind, when a hand is offered, or a
look speaks, as eyes listen....

You know what, this says so much. it's a shame that a friendly glance or touch are often received by the person as something intimidating. only too often will people rather look down whilst passing eachother by in the street, when theres so much joy to be found in a "good morning" or "hello" or a smile with eyes.

Yes, Barry, I love this, too. You did say a lot here. If only
people could be like they used to be and not be afraid to just be
FRIENDLY  to each other...with a smile and a hello...maybe a
hug or handshake. Thank you for this, Barry...

Great write, though it wasn't intended, I came out with a different interpretation once I'd read this. I thought you were speaking of a past love and if you met her again would she spurn the gesture. I just came away with it since I have recently thought of a past love and wondered what we would do if we ran into eachother considering how we left things.

Barry

Eye contact and a smile mean alot to me, and I try to give them out too, without seeming forward...usually I get them back and two people feel better for it.

Indifference, scorn
leaves a sentiment, unborn
But behind the lids of squinted sight
is a flickering of truth, a blink of light
so
Open wide and look within
spirits easily hurt, hearts of tin
and someday you shall see
what great goodness
God intended for thee

Spoken with an intuitive eye, Barry!

Yes Barry, it is all in the eyes, not only romantically, but as friendship and in passing.

Enjoyed a great deal.

Eye contact, a smile, and a cheerful hello are my style and often not received here in hawaii where other cultures reject that behaviour
sad sad sad..but an oh so great write Barry.
