Empty Words

Empty words and hollow phrases,
God simply has no time for these.
He hears only heartfelt praises,
Deceitful lies will not appease.
Amos brought the early warnings.
God's not fooled by a pious word.
Only bring Him honest offerings,
False statements will not be heard.

"The scribes and Pharisees," said Jesus,
"Do not practice what they preach.
They bring you the words of Moses,
Secretly spurning what they teach."
God welcomes the reformed sinners,
False prophets will be turned away.
Sincerity and truth the winners,
Bringing acceptance Judgement Day.

Joyce,
Very well done. A truth that bears repeating often. Thanks.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Joyce,

Your poem reminds me of the prophet Samuel when he was established as a prophet of GOD for the LORD allowed none of his words to fall to the ground.....  Wow!!!  What a testimony of a great man and prophet of GOD.  Amen.  For certain, a true example for any of us to follow. Again, a very wise and most challenging poem.  -Bob

These words are so true... As the Apostle Paul said, "I may speak with the voices of angels, but my voice is naught but a cymbol without love". I pray that we will all have a sincere heart towards Jesus! Thanks for sharing.

(smiles) Yay!!! Oh Joyce, these words are so very precious, sadly there are many who hide their hoods over their eyes and silence themselves like prophets, but the real winners are those who continue to strive for the truth, even for those who may seem the most poor the truth sets them free! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is wonderful, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Joyce, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon ou!
