On clear nights, the sky dresses up.
A scattering of stars lends light
to the universe.

The moon, like a bird from the water
rising straight up, silver-bright, hovers
over the earth.

Ocean waves clap against rocks,
wind-urged, searching for the shore
in moonglow.

I graze like a lamb in all this grandeur,
yet its magnificence renders me
insatiable.

Like restless waters seeking their level,
my soul yearns to float on God’s soft breath.
Until I rest in Him, I shall not find
my own peace.

"Until i rest in him,
I shall not find my own
peace" those last lines are my favorite. and the truest too because, until you find Jesus, there a'int no peace.the peace of this world a'int peace at all.so jjote,(wonder how thats pronounced)move closer to God, rest in him that u may find true peace.for in him satisfaction lies.

Kind of new to the site, but I loved this poem.  I liked the image painted by the first line "On clear nights, the sky dresses up." A beautiful shaping of words and a refreshingly didactic message.

love your poem and thank you for it.  i am new to this site, so a little shy in saying much... but - trying to be a little bolder.  your wording is beautiful.

i do know there is a final peace we do not achieve until the day we "rest" in Him, but thank God for the day to day reality that when He is in charge all things come together for the best in our lives.

You almost have me on a roll.  i really identify with your words.  thanks again

Thanks to all for reading. I am still new here (barely a month), but the poets here are so supportive, talented, prolific(and me, just can't keep up!).
But, it's enough for me that I can share words that can inspire us in our daily lives.

Josefina,

Your poetry here is full of soft night images that induce feelings of peace, though I agree fully with your final conclusion that our true peace rests within Him. Like earlier mentioned by many others here, your poetry is full of soothing imagery.  Thank you.  Though I've never taken a class in poetry, I read your comment ealier about the poetry workshop forum here and I think it's great that you've been in attendance. Maybe you can teach me a few things. (Smiles)   GOD bless and thank you for sharing.  -Bob
