Palm Sunday

Excited crowds with palm leaves
Wave them and call Him, "King".
They plege allegiance to their Lord
As sweet hosannas ring.

They cannot know the coming days
Will fill their hearts with dread;
Before five days have past, their King
Will be betrayed and dead.

Church goers on this Sunday
Hold palm leaves as they sing.
Although we know on Friday they
Will crucify our King.

But we know the whole story.
On Easter, he arose
Ascended into Heaven;
Astounding friends and foes.

He suffered all in silence,
Forgave them on the tree.
He conquered death forever when
He died for you and me.

Hallelujah and amen!  I love poems about Easter because of the promise of Jesus rising.  If He had not risen, there would be no salvation.  Great poem Joyce.  Loved your poem.  I sat writing about Easter and Good Friday today too.
