Simple Words

I'd like to bring you praises, Lord
With words not used before;
With phrases most deserving,
And no borrowed metaphor.

But I know it's my own ego
To such eloquence would aspire.
Belief in you and your dear Son
Is all that you require.

A simple "thank you" for the life
You've given me to live.
These humble words to beg that you
My sinful ways forgive.

Reminds me of the song "How can I say thanks for what God Hath done for me. It's not our eloquence of words but our graditude that pleases him. Good to see you still here posting away! Always enjoy your poetry.
