This piece is part of my collection on Death ("Short Poetry for Those Who Fear Death"). Hope you like it.

Stillborn

My heart desired you,
I felt you growing inside.
I loved you before
you were conceived, my darling.
But today, you chose
to leave my womb and the world.
I touch your face; beauty,
is all I see—my child.
I cannot shed tears,
I can’t even try to breathe;
overwhelmed and spent
I am in this drenched, stained bed.
Love is in your eyes;
peace replaces your heartbeats.
Life I don’t hate you!
Angels’ wings are never clipped.
Things happen for a reason.
May God bless you, my baby.

NB: This is a choka. A form written with a syllable count of 5/7/5/7/5/7/5....7/7. It deals with humanistic topics, especially involving relationships. The total length of the poem is infinite.

This is the first poem I've ever seen on this subject.  I enjoyed the rhythem as well as the loving message.

My daughter had twins, one of which was still born.  Because we'd geared for twins all along, that was very sad. However we were  delighted and still are 19 years later with the living one.

Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you for the message!
Losing a baby is always a big deal, I know that for sure because many friends of mine have gone through that difficult experience. But none of them has ever said that they were sad. It taught them a lot!
Take care.
