You and I

You and I, we have greeted so many!
We are not evil; we want liberty.
We are angels in disguise. We follow
Your souls and their great, immortal flambeau.
We know who you are; we love you. That’s all.

We’ve lived and wept with you. Eternity
Is our song. Don’t fret! Heaven is friendly.
We will help you when it is time to go,
You and I.

Though your body will decay, we’ll still see
The real you, what some call flaw, fallacy.
Like the universe and its endless flow,
You will be given Life and Death to grow,
And we will for ever see your glory.
You and I.

that's so nice of you!!!!!
I still have to try different forms of poetry though, like haikus, that should be fun...
Take care.

Thank you Nancy!
What a good community for poets it is! It is the first time people answer so quickly and positively!

Welcome! There is a host of talent here and it's so nice to welcome one more into the family of blue pages.

I like the perspective from which you wrote this.

Thanks a lot!!!
In fact, that was a rewrite from a previous version, which was in old english, but pretty bad...
So I am quite content with what I did, that's true!
Take care.

First of all, WELCOME!!!!  Great poem.  I love the fact that somebody is writing about dying in a way that we are not alone on that journey.  It reminded me of Touched By An Angel, where Andrew, the Angel of Death, walks with the dying person into Heaven.  It is nice to know that we won't have to walk there alone, that it will be "You and I."

Thanks a lot for this very nice comment!
Well you see, my poem is either understood or not at all. There are those who say that it is too much tell and not enough show, and others that it doesn't scan well at all.
You cannot please everybody, as they say.
But it is nice to see people who read poetry for the beauty of it.
I am not implying that my poem is the most wonderful you'll ever read. It is just great to be recognised not for the way you scan your poem, but for the message in itself.

By the way, this poem will be published in an online magazine called Underground Window next month. I'll give you the link as soon as they send me the issue.

Thanks again!
