CHAINS

I wonder then, I wonder how
My past at work, my past here now
Twice as many, tombs of gold
Past the relics, names of old

To my side comes one in chains
From my heart, gone, remains
Where and when am I to be
Fondly tests insanity

One by one they all retreat
Facing giants they can't defeat
Is it not an ancient curse
This ritual pain we all rehearse

Take my hand, lift me up
Take this thorn, this crown, this cup
I am here with work to do
My job, my life, to die for you.
