I’m Learning
(For Rodger)

I am learning to walk
by holding onto your hand
and letting go of the past.
I am taking those first, tentative steps,
on wobbly knees,
towards a realizable future.
Sometimes I stumble, but I’m learning.

I am learning to feed
my starving soul
and to drink
in the beauty that surrounds me.
You are teaching me that promises
aren’t made to be broken
and forever does exist.
Sometimes I hunger, but I’m learning.

I am learning to see
the best in myself while still searching
for the good in others.
I am finding I like the me
I’ve never had the opportunity to get to know.
Sometimes I’m blinded by my insecurities, but I’m learning.

And I am learning to speak
the baby talk of this new life.
Syllable by syllable, I am putting together
the first phrases of this wordless language
where touches shout and a caress can whisper.
Left speechless in your love; I’m learning.

~ Ruth

I know there are many who think you can never find love until you learn to love yourself... but I read this beautiful accounting of learning self-love through sharing the view of loving eyes... and I hope still breathes for the likes of me. *S*

What a beautiful tribute to the person who's helping you learn and embrace your full potential. *S*

Very Beautiful Ruth..I guess I don't have to learn those things..in most of the years I shared, I felt all those good things..it would be a bit of relearning now, if anything.
You sound very happy and I hope you are well
