winds of autumn
swirled darkly
whispering
in the night

the killings
seemed never to end
the village lived
in terror and fright

a rabid dog
they claimed to see
was responsible
for every death

so they hunted
for one who spewed
frenzied foam from
murderous breath

doors were barred
against his attack
children huddled
by the fire

the tracking began
with clubs aloft
revenge sought
with phobic desire

they cornered him
behind a barn
raising clubs
revenge reined down

when it was over
the celebration began
as they gathered
back in town

the children emerged
from seclusion
to watch the throng
in celebration

the crowd turned
as one group to see
their children watching
in fascination

their parents stood
in fiery glee
accomplishing their
vengeful death

for they had hunted
now it was they that spewed
frenzied foam from
murderous breath

I understand well the point of this.

It's the pointlessness of the situation that is beyond my understanding right now. I wish there were a rabid dog--much easier to track--and the killing is considered euthanasia.

sigh

Totally awesome and I loved the way you reversed it in the end.  Very cool!

Kill the killers, or be killed.  What is wrong (or right) with that statement?  Much thought here.

Thank you.

'for the every death'

that just feels all wrong.  *grins*

but the rest of it was awesome!

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Sharon, it is so very heartbreaking indeed, sweet friend, one movie that has always made me cry every time I watch it was Old Yeller; it is heartbreaking of how so many have to be sacrificed for the good of the rabies not to be spread! (sad sigh) This is well expressed, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

*sigh* I think it isn't what is done that matters as much as with what intent the action is performed. Now that I've used my big words for the day, I'm going to go think on this some more.

Thanks for making me think. It doesn't happen often.
