(chorus)
Heart on my sleeve
Feelings I can’t deny
My love for her still shines from me
No matter how I try
To cover the emotions
That I foolishly thought I could hide
These signals and signs I’m giving off
Reflecting the love inside

(v1)
My hands still shake when I come up behind her
Fingers that long to run once more through her hair
I have to remember to not reach out to her
To touch the soft sensitive places there

(v2)
Her eyes still capture me, turning my head
Caught in their beautiful blue-green glow
Brings a blush to my face and rush of warm chills
My mask is shattered as my longings show

(v3)
My smile still comes, I’m powerless to stop it
Butterflies racing pulse when she gives her own
A smile I crave to kiss, lips I want to taste
And a grin that says these desires are known

(v4)
Her perfume still holds me as I walk near her
Memories relived by the caress of her scent
My body reacts as if I were still holding her
A constant reminder of the times that we spent

(fin)
Heart on my sleeve
Feelings I can’t deny
But it’s a love that’s bittersweet
Ever since we said goodbye
Now my heart is silent
And these words I will try to hide
Signals and signs are all I can give
To show you the love inside

"People say I should learn some self control; but I just want to exorcise my soul"

"I'm still waiting on a revelation here in Never-Never land..."

I could hear your heart beating on your sleeve, it is a muffled sound, but still audible. Perhaps she will again turn her head and heart towards you.

Hiya, Jeffey.
I'd sure like to hear some of these songs put to music. I've found a countryish one and a slow/fastish one so far. (Jenn makes up words)

This is lovely..and longing.

ps..what were you blushin' for anyways?

This is the reason why you are still one of my favorite poets.  Beautiful poem, Jeff.

SEA,
    Glad you enjoyed!

Noah,
    Your responses are always uplifting
Thanks for reading.

Midnite Sun,
Unfortunately, although my heart remains on my sleeve, her and I's time has passed and I know that she will not be looking my way again. But the memories are comforting.

Fuzzy one,
Yes, I am a hopeless romantic too; it's what keeps me writing these songs from my heart. (even though I'm rather down in the dumps about love right now too) Glad you liked it

Jenn,
This one is "slow/fastish" (lol and what's funny is that I know exactly what you are talking about!) As for hearing these put to music, I'm working on that. As for hearing ME sing them, (lol) you better break out the brewskies cause I'm too shy to sing in public. (although I have been known to leave acapella messages on answering machines )
I was blushing because my attempt at "hiding" the inspiration for this poem behind some altered lines failed (lol)

Tara,
...and you are still my favorite muse (although I really need to start working on some humorous material - sad songs kinda get to you after awhile lol)

Jeff, I really like the words to your song. Maybe because I'm a hopeless romanic, too. I'd like to hear these words to music, too.
Thanks for sharing.

Love To All,
Ethel
