The Switch

Come
said the queen
welcome your fantasies
live for your deepest dream
the wretch cast aside what was frayed
the damaged, the best-forgotten
and donned the cloak

but the face betrayed the actress
and the sceptre was slippery, eluding her grasp
Use your illusion
said the queen
Be!

but she could not.
There was not room in her soul
for the hard decisions her twin face would have to make
and she slammed the sceptre down
the jewels a waterfall of emerald, gold, and silver

she bent over the balcony
dropping the royal cloak, watching it fly
like a regal hawk, a drifting, descending autumn leaf

they knew what the solution was
and they both became wretched
sailing across an elusive sea
to a stone cottage bought with baubles
that could purchase the illusion

somewhere, between a highness
and an urchin
they lived their lives out
in peaceful harmony

Jeff darling heart, Oh my dear friend how I’ve missed you, as you can see I’m back from my holiday. You don’t know how glad I am to see a poem by you, and this is particularly fine. I would temporise and say this is going to be a short reply, but it probably won’t be, simply because I can’t do them. Well, I can, but I always feel I’m short-changing the writer and I never wish to short-change you. (Besides which darling heart YOU know if I said short it wouldn’t be)

This is stunning writing, so incredibly real, so totally in the present. There are those who write in beautiful flowing script describe poetic wonder, and they are good, I don’t deny that they are. But you combine an element of being there, the immediacy of the now, and there are so few writers who can do that with conviction. And you do time after time after time. Truly this is superb and I love it utterly utterly utterly love it. (Oh look it’s an almost brief reply,) well, almost is good.

This is fabulous and you know I love it don’t you? Mmmm I do indeed, very much

Love and warm stuff
as always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

Hi Guys!  ~laughing~  I am in the middle of a movie and will reply to some poems in two shakes of a lambs tail.  Batman is demanding some attention as well.  Maaaaaaaasha!  How  are you?  You know, i still am envious of yours and Krissy's trip to Fla.  But, still, i am glad you have returned.  You have been missed.  (and i mean that, dear heart.)  Don't know what got into me on this:  just the romantic foo' that i am.  Noah, will call you this week, K?  Thankx y'all!
