No matter the distance
our hands are nestled in the middle
perched on a bridge of understanding and tolerance.
Do the secrets of our past really matter
when showered in the light of what glows
every time we dream together?
I know you.
I have witnessed the nature of your heart
through words and breath
and in the slight whisper of your eyes
as they watch me when you think I'm not looking.
How could I be so captivated
that my wits take their leave with each hello?
My eyes become so entangled with the dark of your lashes
that I forget my fear of drowning in another love story.
Through glances I know your faults.
Through kiss I understand your desire.
When you held me once
we talked beneath a shadowing rain.
We drank glasses of each other
while huddled under a dawn sky
two nude wills
heart bathed beneath their creation of light.
We will love through chaos
be steadfast through all matters of storms.
Two hearts will build the foundation for one point of light
a duet done with passion
a work of art that will surpass even the waves of hell.
Our devotion isn't made of sand.
Love endures
endurance rewards
and I will aspire to love you in the future
with as much faith as I do now.

"two hearts will build the foundation for one point of light
a duet done with passion"

Jenn! This is magnificent. A true testament to a deep and abiding love...makes me smile, sigh and weep at at once.

Jenn,
Well, am I impressed or what? That was just wonderful. Wish I could do that. Excellent.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Jennifer, this is absolutely  BEAUTIFUL. I could see myself and my Gary the whole time I was reading it. I know that I will read this poem over and over and over again. I'm so glad that you reposted it. I might have missed it otherwise.  THANK  YOU  for sharing your heart.

This is a love that all should have, and that all should strive for.  I envy you.

Thank you.

Love the added hellos,
and the glasses of white.

The poem grows with you.

The way you express yourself always leaves me a bit in awe of your wonderful talent.  In other words, I love this completely. *hugs* my friend

the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn
