One year Santa Claus traveled to Colon
to visit with the Wizard of PiP
but he wore his penny loafers
which cause poor Santa to slip

Ron took him in and fed him
let him sit in his favorite spot
told him to rest there for a bit
while he filled up the coffeepot

They had such a lovely time
laughing hard at our travesties
they failed to see the duo approach
from behind the willow trees

The two scurried to the window
it was just shelter they were after
but as they listened they got caught
in the spirit and the laughter

So intent were they on listening
they didn’t hear the truck on the road
too late they realized their tracks
could be followed since it snowed

Panicked by discovery
they raced into the house to see
if the Wizard and Santa
would help them both to flee

Both men agreed to help them
as the duo explained running away
Ron helped Santa with the reins
to the trusty red Santa Sleigh

And just as the trackers arrived
in the drive to the Wizard’s yard
Santa flew off with the fugitives
who flapped their wings really hard

The Colon locals still tell the tale
travel there and they’ll tell it to you
about the year Santa flew over
in a sleigh pulled by two Emu.

Very creative and fun!  We have emu here galore running wild (up country) it is the lastest fad to raise, and eat them, but not me they are too cute.

Thank you all!!! I thought this begged to be written...when I read that the emus escaped in Southwest Michigan, I figured if they traveled enough, they'd eventually get to Colon. I'm glad you all liked it!

ROTFL at this one, and liked Balladeer's reply.
Way to go Ron! I'd sure like to see that Emu with the red nose. Oops, wrong critter.
