I lay in a field with my arms wide open and fingers stretched to the sky
I breathe in deep the fresh clean air
and let it fill my lungs unspoiled the taste that runs across my lips

The morning mist still damp on the grass beneath me
the pretty flowers with simple colored patterns on their petals are with in my grasp
but they will remain everlasting for this hand will not pluck them from the life giving earth

I am here as a visitor to this world of beauty
to enjoy this Eden left untouched by man
hoping as I rest that only deer will pass and man's machinery will never find its way to destroy or build on these lands

I let my thoughts pass as I feel a blast of cool wind push past the blades of grain and grass
closing my eyes I breath deep and fall into a gentle sleep

This is so soft and soothing. I too hope the machinery doesn't come.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Thank you for allowing us all to peer through your eye and into this field of dreams.  I greatly enjoyed this piece (peace)and more than all else, your refusal to be married to a single style within it.  The way that you carefully craft the rythm of the second half of this piece (peace)in a way helps the reader to travel to where you have described so tenderly in the beginning.  I have read quite a few poems since becoming a member of this site, but your poem is the first that I have moved to comment on.  You have captured the epitome of poetry here (if you ask me).  Thanks Again.
