What a Difference a Bird Makes (T-giving humor)

What a Difference a Bird Makes

Old Ben wanted
our national bird to be
the lovely, luscious,
wild turkey.

If that were so,
might it have become our pet,
being adored and adorned
with a harvest vest,
instead of dressed for the kill,
and donned for to fill
our bellies with a giving of thanks?

Instead,
would we have fed
on bald eagles and bread,
to celebrate our founding father’s convey
of thanksgiving for all
in that first harvest’s fall
with a friends’ and neighbors’ array?

It’s something to ponder
in muse or in wonder
as you sip from the bounty at hand.
What might seem absurd
in a different bird
in the one that we feast is quite grand.

OH How TRue....MAN! I am glad they realized the TURKEY was better for eating than representing OUR country. WE would be knows as turkeys...yuck!
