I wanted to take pieces of
my tired warm cocoon--
A child had taken fingernail
and ripped my world too soon...

O release of womb from tree--
this aches
this aches
as I grow feet.

The thumb,
the tool--
the difference
this thing
that lets us grasp...
Watch it
wither
all away
too tight
within our clasp.

I wanted to take pieces of
myself and make me whole--
mosaic in a patterned grout--
and cement me--in sale of soul.

all my colors in display
patterns
of my re-arrange...

O release of ecstacy--
this aches
this aches
of highway need.

The thumb,
the fool--
of backward glimpse--
the thing that let me
ride the tide--
that digit pointed
all too loose
and fingers curled
at me and cried:

"YOU--in beg of carpet ride
straddled--
rode the rumble-peg--
the wind swept teardrops
from your eyes--
always just a thumb in beg."

Mocking me.

Yes.

(mocking me)

always just a thumb in beg...

Laughing.

Yes?

(too heartily)

be damned the queen of rumble-peg...

and what are you conceding? Yourself?

As usual..you weave a tangled web of words for us to contemplate

Oh ... I know why the caged bird sings ...
in chant of rhymes, she'd be granted wings.

And when you're granted wings through verse
You realize your world just could be worse.

interesting. i like this one - you didn't just plop down the straightforward, but pointed, subtley, at another meaning.

Gives me pictures of a buttery in concrete (and, strangely, on a motorbike).
