Calais to the Tunnel, Refugees seeking sanctuary http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/2003977.stm

We are just seeking sanctuary,
a safe haven (not heaven)
from the devastating wars.

In Calais, France is a steel grey building.
For years it housed giant metal earth movers.
The earth movers dug the Tunnel Channel,
from Europe to England.
Then came the refugees from Kosovo.

Now we come for sanctuary...
Afghanis, Iraquis, Iranians.
Refugees.
And all we want for Christmas
is a safe haven,
we are not seeking heaven
here on earth.

But we don't stay in our place.
We sometimes venture out
into the villages,
and the locals say we chase away
the tourists who have money
jingling in their pockets.
We have no money.
We have no home.
We have no future.

All we want for Christmas is
a safe haven.
Do you have a map
to such a place?

(sad sigh) My prayers are with all of them, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Susan, thanks for reading this story.
Noah, when you find that map, we might all want to follow that road.

Hey,Kacy
Just wanted to let you know that I got your email. This is the second time that I came here to read this.It is so good that you have the Heart to write about such things for with which so many are ignorant.
So many offerings I've read seem to go on about the moon, the stars, the rain,etc...and that is all fine and oft times very eloquent and beautiful, but any offering written with concern and Heart, even ones which may be painful to read, rise high on my scale of relevance. So good to know that I have a "sister" out there such as yourself.
Yes,so many times I have thought of those chidren who have watched their entire families being slaughtered right before their eyes. Can we at all imagine what effect that would have on a soul?I can't help but to think of the song,"Somewhere" from West Side Story. What stage can we set for any type of Utopia,if we do not use our eyes, ears and voices to entail a "Peaceful" fight against these "things that should not be"?
Maybe it is up to the poets and songwriters to inspire enough to rise up and change this crazy world.Excellent offering,Kacy.

Hoping that you, your family and friends have an inspiring Thanksgiving Day,
          your friend,Geoffrey

Now you've done it Geoffrey. I am swallowing a small lump of Thank You's  right now. I am so happy to have a new soul brother poet with such a strong beating Heart. Happy Thanksgiving to your family and friends, and even your enemies, though I doubt you have any enemies.

Kacy, my friend...
I have a feeling your thoughts
are still the same, now that you
have the whole world in your view...

Merry Christmas, my dear friend.
