We called and all the people came
To that place held within the sun
We read our works and played some games
Until the gathering time was done

The voices soft now disappear
As they leave us one by one
Krissie and Marsha are yet here
As the sun sets on this deed done

The laughter that claimed our hearts
Will be muted for some time
For we gave our better parts
To this place in sunny clime

We met, we saw, we linked our hands
In this place held by the sun
And then returned to foreign lands
With memories fresh of everyone

Some tears were shed within the ring
As hearts were shared and dreams fulfilled
But golden was the gathering
As we completed what we'd willed

Magic fluff, some folk may say
Nothing there to hold the link
But we know friendship for always
Of those who came and did not shrink

It changed my life to deepest joy
This gathering magic neath the sun
I return with hope's employ
My strength renewed, my sorrow done

I do not know the future path
Maybe my life won't bear the test
But I have felt the aftermath
Of friendship's hold and I am blest

Perhaps my time is nearly done
And I am called to face my God
Then in that gathering in the sun
I'll say I stood on holy sod

And felt the link of friendship's band
That stretched across to hold my hand

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Kethry this is a beautiful tribute to those you met in Florida. How I wish I could have been there to meet you all.

I want you to know how truly sorry I am for the terrible tragedy in Bali. It was a tragic loss for the whole world.

Hugs, Marti

Not only are you creating fine poetry for the poets of the gathering to keep as recorded memoirs, you are sharing this special event with the rest of us as well!

Thank you, Kethry!

NewEnglandlazurlu,
Thanks for the response, sorry you couldn't be there, perhaps next time. It is terrible about the Bali thing, when I arrived back in Melbourne there were reporters everywhere waiting to speak to those Australians returning from Bali because of the bombings. *HuGS*

loner-23,
What a lovely response.

Marge,
you know and I know, ahhh the things we know together. *HuGS*

Earth Angel,
thank you for responding so faithfully, you are salt, the like of which, when exchanged, binds friendships.

Keth, your reply to my reply requires a reply!

~ I am sending you a handful of salt in friendship, however, I feel you have lots of the stuff already!--as you are already the "salt of the earth!" ~

wow.

your maintainance of the form was impressive in itself, but the way you really wrap the story around the reader is great.

it seems the greatest magic you may have experienced was simply that of love and friendship; that in itself is worth many a great journey.

Kethry, my dearest Aussi friend
Down you came and back you went
With a heart full of memories sweet
In Tampa we bonded friendships indeed

Beautiful poem Keth.

Keth beloved heart oh how I wish you were back here, and yes I am blubbing like a baby, 'tis your fault dearest heart, and yes you knew I'd say that.

What can I say about you that hasn't been said already, you know you hold the best part of me, and the piece that is left is creating havoc here. Krissy is writing furiously, not necessarily well but copiously nevertheless, I on the other hand am not.

You are the rainbow that lights the sky
You are the softest breath of a baby's sigh
You are the beginning and I am the end
You are to me my best hope, my soul, my friend

You are the sunlight that glows so bright
You are the star that twinkles at night
You are the touch of truth that speaks to me
You are my haven, the safe home, my sanctuary

There you see beloved heart I told you I am not writing much

Love you always
and forever
Mushy

You know this is very special and I love it utterly utterly utterly, and now they are kicking us out the library so I'm off

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

Keth, you have  expressed in words what eyes could only say when we were all together...
So many friendships made, still many more to go...
Your poems touch the heart and encircle us all.

hugsssss and thanks for your part in bringing us all together
