This second one didn't turn out nearly as good as I'd have liked. Maybe I'll
work more on it. Somehow incorporate "World's greatest clown."

                             Emmett

                             he wept and frowned
                             to make us smile
                             in tears he drowned
                             in jester’s wile

                             big feet, big pants
                             to make us smile
                             with raves and rants
                             in jester’s wile

                             carnation squirts
                             big feet, big pants
                             sprayed seltzer squirts
                             with raves and rants

                             carnation squirts
                             in tears he drowned
                             sprayed seltzer squirts
                             he wept and frowned

I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Sad poem but funny at the same time. I like it.

Virginia, nice job on this poem.

I remember meeting him when I was a little girl
and although clowns are supposed to make you laugh,
he scared the daylights out of me.

Hugs, Marti

It amazes me how you talented poets can write such excellent poems on any subject. I enjoy all of them.
