New Poet Richey
Part one the gathering
warning this is quite long so I suggest you supply yourself with popcorn, crisps/chips, and a large drink

Oh what a time all of us had
No thought of sorrow or things gone bad
Each person brought such delight
It bubbled through us far into night
We talked, we laughed, recited our hearts
Swore friendship and love would n’er depart
Under Florida’s amazing skies
Our words flew on the wings of sighs

Keth, I think had a secret desire
To stir within this one man a raging fire
And co-opted Krissy to assist her plan
To captivate the boot checking man
There’s no other reason that I can see
For them to visit Tampa constantly
That Sunday night we were there five times in all
Surely that has to be some kind of lover’s call

Nakedthoughts had her own little room
It’s the same one where we kept the broom
A Nakedthought in a closet is strange
But it was the best accommodation we could arrange
The villa wasn’t the roomiest one I fear
There were fourteen people including Balladeer
Margie girl, Bill, Titia, and Nakedthoughts were four
Then add to that Isabel, Fran and Seymour

There’s tales to tell, and I will
About Margie girl and her sweetheart Bill
We went off to DeLand on a Tuesday
And naturally as per usual we lost our way
So the trip that should have been quite short
Was rather longer than any of us thought
We had planned to be there quite early
And spend some precious time with sweet Delaney

We got there of course eventually
It wasn’t my fault so don’t blame me
Away to the restaurant for our luncheon date
Where people were waiting because we were late
We met June, Bill, Irene, and Margie’s brother Tony
Then off to June’s whose home amazed me
It’s filled with beauty and things you wouldn’t believe
I wanted to stay longer but sadly we had to leave

Bill entertained us by singing and such
And we were each blessed by Margie’s touch
The talent in Bill is awesome he sings so well
We can see why Margie for him kind of fell
Then adding Titia to our merry little band
We set off for Port Richey so farewell DeLand
Guess what? Yes we got lost yet once more
And again we washed up on Tampa’s friendly shore

Titia who hadn’t yet experienced a trip like this
Sat in her seat while we instructed Kriss
Turn here, no right, okay go left once more
What is the difference we are lost for sure?
Tampa bay beckons and we haven’t been today
No, alas, I’m sure I heard Krissy or Keth say
I know the way to Tampa, said Kriss, yes I said we know
It’s only leaving Tampa that this car can’t go

Now at the villa there were five ladies in all
On the Wednesday into the car we did crawl
Off to the library where we had booked time
On the computers where we could get on line
Titia went for a ramble while we went to Wal Mart
A shopping trip where we showed we were smart
Then popped into Denny’s our favourite spot
Where we got something to eat delicious and hot

Thursday and Margie and Bill arrived on cue
We yelled Oh we are pleased to see you
We welcomed them to our happy little band
Just as they had welcomed us to their home in DeLand
Maureen made sure we all were fed
Titia wrote poems and then we went to bed
Tomorrow will bring Seymour and Balladeer
Isabel, Fran, and Pilgrimage will all be here

Friday morning and Pilgrimage is due
From Dallas she comes at eleven o two
Krissy and Keth volunteered to go
Back to Tampa airport they went pronto
This time, just for a change I think that maybe
They got lost going, or that’s the story they told me
Pilgrimage rang and squeaked Mushy please help
I’m waiting patiently by the baggage belt

I’d promised her a banner and I sent it too
But I believe that Keth left it in the loo
Pilgrimage waited very patiently
Saw lots of people but no sign of Keth and Krissy
Eventually they turned up rather out of breath
They didn’t say why but Krissy blamed Keth
There was a suspicious smile on Keth’s face
And Krissy looked like she’d been in a race

Now the villa is getting as full as can be
But there’s always room I said optimistically
There has to be room for our own star Balladeer
Isabel, Fran and Seymour were due to appear
When they arrived as they did eventually
All was nearly ready for our poetical party
What could be better than bangers on the barbie?
But someone has to make it and its not going to be me

Marsha

Hi Sis!! Wow...this sounds like a hellubba gathering, so when can I book a room, eh? But you know you're going to have your hands full with this bunch, don't you?????  Loved it!!

Pen how you truly feel...
it is a safety-valve for the soul!

mum very true indeed. This poem is really funny and one of your best.
It is a lie Keth and I was just running late that was all nothing happened to anyone, I promise.
Very well written

Marsha, I'm laughing and nearly choking on my popcorn. What a fantastic time you all must have had.

I have loved hearing from all of you who attended and do so wish I had been there.

Maybe another time you'll all come to New England and visit with me and Nan.

Hugs, Marti

Geez! It reads like Gullible's Travels! Thanks for sharing, mushy. All of that happened before my arrival so it was new to me....sounds like you had fun!

Deer, it was not gullible's travels although I claim the 5th when speaking about our trips to Tampa.
Krissy love you keep telling them nothing happened, I'm sure they'll believe you - eventually. Although, truly folks, nothing happened

Marsha I laughed all the way through this and the scary thing was I could hear your voice as I read it. GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!
Keth

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Marsha, I'm really enjoying all these stories about the trip to Florida. I'm so glad all of you enjoyed our great state of Florida. There's a lot to enjoy here. But, I've got a feeling that all of you guys would have enjoyed being  ANYWHERE  together. All of you sound like you're absolutely delightful. Just think, if I had known about it, I might could have been there, too, with me being so close and in the same state. But, I hadn't joined this great family of friends then, I don't guess. Anyway, just keep telling us about your trip, because you're making us feel like we were actually there. Thanks.

Mushy darling, now I'm homesick
I've so many good memories of those days I went from Boston to Florida South and back to Tampa.

Wish I could have stayed longer, but my sheep were calling me and my hubby too it appears LOL

Thanks for sharing your beautiful words.

I think I left my red fishingcap in the villa, couldn't find it anymore.

OhMarshaLove~
This beauty has me in tears and in *giggles* at the same time~

You are the 'hostess with the mostest' for sure~
I think everything (except continually getting 'turned around') was PERFECT~
And in Krissy's defense ... oh, Lord girlie ... we DO DRIVE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD NOW, DON'T WE ?

I'd do it all again TOMORROW ... Where do we pick you gals up ?  We'll be there !

KETHRY ... COME BACK !  PLEASE SAY YES !
Love n' most of all .... LOVE~
