A long distance relationship,
sometimes is so hard
Often keeps us from sleeping,
makes us weary and tired

We get our hopes all built up,
one week-end together to be
Then our plans have to change, to be
together, we'll have to see

There's always many phone calls,
with tender, caring words
We talk for many hours, such love
you've never heard

Reminisce all our memories, of
together, we share
We have each one of them stored
in our memory, with care

Of all our dreams and hopes, we
wistfully do talk
And of the paths of life, together
we will walk

Also, there are letters, written
with love each day
In them, we can only begin, our
deep love to portray

In the future, soon we hope, our
own home we'll share
Until then, we'll handle our love
with tender, loving care

The disappointments we have, and
troubles we have now
Will all be forgotten, and be
gone away, somehow

So thankful and happy we'll be, when
together in one place
All these miles between us, will be
gone without a trace

Soon we'll have what we've wanted, right
from the very start
Be bonded as husband and wife
nevermore to be apart

Ethel, you know the old saying, "Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder". But, I do hope your wish comes true real soon.

Hey Sue,
Yeah, I believe that saying is true. But, the distance between us sure does hurt. Especially when something happens to mess up our plans to be together one week-end. He's always. understanding about situations, though

(siles) Oh Ethel, this is sooooooooo beautiful, I cried reading this because I always tell myself these same words thinking of Joanna before I go to sleep and when I get up in the morning in prayer and when daydreaming of her gorgeous smile all day! (kiss on cheek) I know this will happen for you both and finally you will be together forever, God Bless You Both, may true loves happiness fill your deserving heart, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Dear sweet Noah, if nobody else relates exactly to the way I feel, I know that you always will. Thanks for reading and replying.

Ah Ethel...it's sad to be apart from the one we love.
I do hope things work out so you can have a visit this weekend.
And that you will be together on a more permanent basis real soon.

Oh, how I recall these memories...and yet, the greatest long-distance love we shared was after marriage and he was sent to Viet Nam for a year. That's when the daily letters began and no phone calls, given the reason for the separation.

Long distance love is very difficult.
A poem with powerful emotion. Some changes in line breaks could help the rhythm and flow and make this even more powerful in its message.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
