Lay My Head Down It seems a lifetime since I've been handed peace of my own And, I just sigh in the miss you kind of way Tomorrow begins when I'm just not ready I never had a voice to protest any new day... The moon lights my window, my trees, and my soul And, I stare in the emptiness around my room I just lay my head down in it's iridescent sight Trying hard not to make the moon cry, too... I lay my head down in recognition to sorrow ahead Lord, I don't want to lie anymore on heartaches bed I lift my hands in prayer to midnight's show But, Lord, I don't think he will ever, ever, know... That I dine with sadness; crawl an uneasy pace Hide in the arms of yesterdays face So, I lay my head down where forgotten lies While caring for me just passes me by... Time just doesn't heal my own imagination It only dampens the ground to my heart's creation So, I lay my head down in his very name Lord, grant me, with this light, a change... You know they are real when hot burns the skin When the tears fall where lonely begins And, when laughter denies any real life's form I lay my head down, silently, to withstand the storms... I've never asked the moon for more then it's light But, I just can't handle what it offers tonight So, God, bless me with what just happens around As, I lay my head softly back down...
