Peace Maker
By Larry Chadwick
Hope you can endure the collection of poems I found that I wrote in 1993! Here is one.

I decided early in my life that being a peacemaker was the safest route;
So I set about to make sure I never had anything to fight about.

But as a little boy I discovered not everyone wanted to be my friend;
So I created a club where I could be President and by control, win.

Then along came adolescence and took complete charge of my life;
This certainly was no time to become brave and at all costs I avoided strife.

Somehow that illusive thing called adulthood began to settle in;
I gained confidence that at this peacemaking stuff I was a shoe-in.

Then when I got married and my wife always seemed to want a fight;
I did what any peacemaker would do, I let her think she was always right.

As time was slipping by, it was becoming quite plain for me to see;
My version of being a peacemaker wasn’t all I expected it would be.

So I went to see what Jesus had to say in His Sermon on the Mount;
Because as a peacemaker I knew that my version didn’t really count.

I discovered that first a peacemaker must be at peace from within;
I didn’t find turmoil or a bad temper or other similar sins.

Second, I learned that a peacemaker works hard to settle quarrels not avoid them;
As a servant it’s natural to be accepting, tolerant and never be negative again.

Now, in earnest, I strive to do as Jesus suggested until He comes again;
"If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men."

1993

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Larry,

I'm really glad that you found this poem and decided to share it with us. I enjoyed a lot. I have recently found some more of my works that I haven't shared either.

Larry, there is so much truth in this poem.
I'm glad , too, that you are sharing these poems
with us. I have some that I wrote a while back
that I've misplaced somewhere. Maybe I can find
them one day.
Again, thanks for sharing with us, friend.

Lots of wisdom and yes, blessed are the peacemakers all.  However love, ahem,     I have to say ~ you have come a long way baby! You are sure one heck of a guy in 1993 and now, Nancy Lee you are one lucky girl!  Hugs, to you both and I know you felt like this then and have only grown in your beliefs and have shown that.

An interesting poem, Larry.  I've also always been a peacemaker and it's true that in order to have peace in your marriage, your wife has to believe that she's always right. LOL

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

Dawn,
Thanks. And dust those poems off and bring them out.

Ethel,
They'll show up. And thank you.

SG,
Just a few. And thank you for your kindness.

Sharon,
So I wasn't the only one who noticed that. And thank you dear friend.

Keth,
Thank you dear girl. And peace to you.

Kacy,
I may not be a hippie but... Thanks.

Connel,
Hey...welcome to Passions. Hope you like it half as much as I do. And thank you. Now I gotta find what gave you that smirk. (off to look for Connel posts)

JM,
Woohoo. I wondered who would grab that. I thought for sure Kacy would snag it. How fun. You are a dear friend and I thank you for your generous words.

Mikie,
You have a choice. You can either be right or happy! Thanks.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

(sigh) Oh Larry, I couldn't agree with you more, sweet friend, I desire wholeheartedly to love everyone and make amends and peace with all, but I too realize not everyone will accept me, and even a couple here don't accept me, but I accept that and forgive hem as it is truly is a virtue! (big hugggsssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, you are an epitome of compassion, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Larry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

I think I own the female version of your comfy old shoes...
for I would rather help to settle, than see one win or lose
for both sides must walk away, after a shake of hand
as a peacemaker always knows...war does not become man...

Look what my camel bumped into this morning.

It's Larry's favorite hippiechick pic!

Have a great week. Heck, take the rest of the year.
