~* Wind Whistles Through The Willows *~
© Mysteria 11/2002

There’s an angel watching over me
As I meander on my way.
I feel her warmth rush through me
Tho' it’s a cold, and blustery day.

When we were young, we made a pact
And it was until death do us part
Never dreaming that one day
We’d be severed at the heart.

Somehow we couldn’t be separated
we were two halves of a whole.
So much alike were she and I
In mind, body and soul.

We made that promise to never go,
knowing some day we could not stay.
She left me here far to soon
So much to do, so much more to say.

Loss is such a dreadful thing,
It continues to fill your heart.
The words, “What if I, and "If only I”
Constantly keep tearing you apart.

I know her journey has been reached,
She's in a better place it’s true,
I had a hard time letting her go,
But that I promised I would do.

On a fall day such as this they dance.
Willow leaves all around me lay.
I sit here with tears in my eyes
Missing her somehow more today.

The wind whistles through the willows
Scattering a new leaf to match each tear,
Willow leaves mark a path for me,
And I strangely feel her here.

I realize I still hold her in my heart,
And the memories I have are gold,
So each time I feel a hole in my heart
At least I have them to hold.

Sadly she is gone from this plain,
I must celebrate her life with me.
Still when sorrow takes it gripping hold,
I search for whispers in the willow tree.

In Memory of Willow

A smile costs you nothing so makes someone rich.

Sharon....she is your sweetest muse...this is so tender and lovely...a bittersweet beauty..and cadenced kissed.
As i was reading this..I was reminded of another Willow poem..the one about you two jumping in the leaves...
See how poetry works...your memories have become ours as you share her magic with us

Unknown to us, there are moments when crevices open for time to come alive with begining.

Ah JM, thank you, thank you, thank you, as it was the thought of our doing just that which led me to "our tree" today to see if it still had any leaves.  After I cried, I kicked the leaves around like a kid, and ended up laughing so memories are a good thing!  Thank you again for you (((hugs)))

Sharon, I haven't been here long enough to know
who "Willow" is, but I do know that this is a
beautiful dedication to her. Your heart shows
through from beginning to end. Thanks for
sharing with us.

Love makes the world go 'round (unkown)

Nancy Lee ~ She is not only the muse but the music - thank you so much.

Noah ~ I tell you the day your "sweet Joanna" finally gets all this love you have to give is the day there is going to be one very lucky girl.

garysgirl ~ Willow was the other half of me, a lifelong friend who died in July of last year.

Sharon, I read in your replies who Willow was. There must be such an ache inside you for this loss of your other half.

Sometimes I feel even closer to my loved ones who have shed their earthly mantles. I feel their loving presence around me and I know that I am protected and guided by them.

This was an exceptionally well-written and moving poem--one that was straight from your heart to ours.

~ Willow will always be by your side....

This one's not easy for me on this particular weekend - I seem to have a compilation of losses in my corner - but you express it so much better than I... Thanks for the whispers, Mysterias One...

Earth Angel ~ Jenna is more vocal now than when she was alive - I think she has taken on a new form - my conscience.

Nan ~ You are suffering your own losses this weekend with your Aunt, and getting to a space of acceptance is the first stepping stone in a long path and journey to a new place for them in your heart.  This can be a wonderful journey trust me.

As I looked at the beautiful picture, I also saw the picture of her dancing... your title and photo make pretty darn good poetry all by themselves. *S* And then I read the beautiful poem... and each word touched me once again with the love of friends that will never end. *S* This is lovely, Mysteria.

Ah, not so strange, not at all...

Do not ever quit sharing your heart,
nor your stories...

they are both, always, always welcome...
