The funeral is at two p.m.,
...my bus leaves town at eight,
Tomorrow seems a life gone by,
...there goes the midnight freight.
Ten years have passed since I've been back,
...I've felt the need to roam,
From Wichita to San Antone,
...no place to call a home.
Neon lights from down the street,
...dance against the wall,
Six long hours til break of dawn,
...no need for wake up call.
I lay awake in silent wait,
...cockroaches on the wall,
Scurry 'cross my long agoes,
...strangers walk the hall.
She was the bane of my existence,
...the drier of my tears,
She took my hand and led the way,
...the slayer of my fears,
Foster mothers come and go,
...she was but five feet tall,
Child welfare is an oxymoron,
...raindrops start to fall.
I count the drips from ceiling's crack,
...the night returns my fears,
She promised me she'd never leave,
...no one to catch my tears.

As I've told you before, Tim, I am a big fan of your writing and this piece was no exception. If this is a true personal story, my heart goes out to you for all the hardships you have experienced in your life. It seems to me that the greater the writer, the more they have experienced ---whether it be good or bad. It all goes into that well from which we draw the ink to write.

You caught me off guard, Sir...
so did the raindrops...

Tim, this poem had such a powerful effect on me
that I wanted to see more of your work. I haven't
seen much of it since I've been here at PIP.
You, dear Sir, are a very talented poet. No matter
what your subject, you write it with such force
and power. Thank you for sharing your work.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Tim, this is so very sad, sweet friend, my heart goes out to you and hope that is in the past and now you have a shoulder to cry over and if you don't, my heart goes out to you and know we are all here for you and promises will come your way! (sigh) This is touching, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Tim, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

This is utterly touching, every descriptive line... held me spellbound until the wonderful, (though, so sad it made me cry), ending. A great poem.

Thank you so much for sharing it,

With Warm Regards,
Pat
