Why do I keep going on,
Plodding on, moving on, doing,
When it is easy to lay down
Stay down, keep down, do nothing.
There are those out there,
In nowhere, anywhere, lost in sight,
Without thought of our reality
Fantasy, imaginary, without fight.
Let them take all my possessions,
Burn my house to the ground,
No more psychiatrist sessions
With pay he doesn’t want me around,
I’ll wander the streets in a daze
Go back to sleeping in alleyways,
When winter comes there are steam grates
And unlocked doors to warm basement,
Soup kitchens from the socialist states
Or even a cozy asylum to be sent.
No those are overcrowded these days,
And designated for criminally insane stays.
It will be easy to just let it go,
No money, no problems, no car keys,
Become another derelict no one knows,
That everyone looks away when sees.
I’ll panhandle street corners some
Spending the coins on cheep rum,
Drifting on a endless drinking binge
Till this old liver stops working too
Giving me that nice yellow tinge,
There in the gutter with nothing to do
No where, not anywhere to go
I’ll slip away and no one will know.

There’s the alarm, I better get up
And get ready for work.

That perfectly captures the lethargic nature of our race. It started off so dark and brought me back to the days I lived there, it was very in depth in thought and reads like a checklist of all the wretched things that seem so much more appealing than going to work and paying bills and droning along like a mechanical conformist when that alarm clock goes off every morning. It made me laugh to myself at the end, because i could very much relate. Thank you for sharing.

There are those....

"without thought of our reality"

I find that so incredibly sad.

Glad this is but a dream, and, by the way, very well written.

Warm Regards,
Pat

The invisible impoverished. The social state is however far less social these days, the insane when criminal are thrown in prison with those who can't afford decent council or lack political connections. Ergo ergo it's off to work we go.

Thank you, Luvlorn322,
Lethargic nature, yes some of that all around me,
And some of it during also, more of a ramble and a dread.
Pleased you enjoyed my rambling darkness

Thank you, regards2you,
This was not a dream, more of a waking nightmare
Because the incredibly sad is all about,
Glad you liked the words

Thank you, nakdthoughts,
No dreams, too much reality.
Glad you enjoyed.

Thank you, RSWells,
The state never was designed to be social,
And now the fairness has gone from it also.

Thank you, Earth Angel,
The reality of it is the greater nightmare
The fact that it is too easy to slip to it,
To live it
To be it.
