in the pouring rain

So short a life once slowly lived
In a world full of wonder and joy
Soon the solitude of the peaceful world
Disrupted by a dreadful tune
Of eerie giggles and screams
Do you hear the birds in their heads?
See the eyes with a twinkle of shyness
Sarcastic voices being told what to say
Through ideas reeled inside an evil mind
I guess the vocabulary to say anything
Is beyond the reach of any of them
Scared, yea, I should think
If I am surrounded by lesser of my intellect
Shouldn’t I be?
Maybe not because I can recollect
My days of playing with dolls
But those days are long passed
And so many troubles have fallen into my path
Blocking me from passing forward
And making myself better
But still I can look into the soft eyes of a young one
And remember and miss it so
But most important
I remember

~*I'm not gonna say I'm gorgeous, that for you to decide, if you really wanna know me, see the world through my eyes*~

I agree, memories are really important. It's hard to grow up and face new things. This is well done, Riley.

This is a very good write... we all long for our childhood, but as we grow, we will attain much more than we could as children. Good work!

Wow, Riley... I love this one.  The first line is perfect... brought me right into the state of mind of the poem.

You're just so awesome... what's your secret, babe?
