Backlighting

The back of the storm circles the
edge,

multi-strange-colors at oh-storm-thirty

dusk comes in and out, quicksilvering
slim lightening threads off and out there,
giant rumblings trembling slowly
this way, a backwash of what
could have been

yellowing golds backlighting
the underside of cottonwood’s leaves
grays on grey’s white yellow tinged pink
accumulations of formations

all is a strange other world

and I stand golden in summer sultry haze

azaleas and camellias come to
mind,
another yard, a different state
a planting of promises that were
seen only once...

we had dug deep in that postage stamp yard,
to put fragrance of rose
and color of gladiola
into being

thin young trees planted for
someday’s voluptuous shade

memories now as backlit
as the back of the storm circling the edge
allows

~*~

slightly revised

and I stand golden in summer sultry haze

this is my favorite line in this very desriptive piece Karilea.  Well done.

(smiles) Oh Karilea, this is soooooo beautiful, sweet friend, I have so many fond memories of sitting in the shade near rivers and relaxing feeling the spring breeze whisper! (sigh) I always love your gorgeous words, sweet friend, I am a big fan, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

The storm flows beyond with the words of life.

Thank you.

With such a command of descriptive imagery, I am sure you do stand golden on any platform that you choose.

Sunshine,
It's oh-storm-o'clock and all is well
because you let it be well.

No wonder they made the Wizard of Oz - this is not a good picture in my mind to tell you the truth - but it sure was painted well.

You are all....more than kind.  There is a mystery to poetry...one that not all understand.  Those that understand...are of the chosen few.  Thank you all.

Oh what marvelous imagery you have, Karilea...
The better to write you with...I guess, said the hungry wolf... (LOL)

I especially loved the "multi-strange colors at oh storm thirty"
and "grays on grey's  white yellow tinged pink"  this sounds tornadic to me...

and... I also loved "memories now as backlit as the back of the storm circling the edge allows"

and I also loved....... the rest of the poem, every single word...

You are a true poet, Karilea...
~ loving hugs

Kariela

You have made me crave a storm...a big, loud and colorful one.  Lovely poetry and memory book!

Fading Light

it is in the last of Summer
that roots danced with expectation
and we ceased to hunt the sun

listening to last heartbeats of starlight
with chilled anticipation of a Fall
we scattered seeds of crystal snow memories
a sacred gaping hole
and we were planted

for this
is how flowers grow

( a mini inspired by golden summer of Sunshine)
