The Shores of Alone

He used to ride the open space
his six shooter his only friend
no lady waited his return
a cowboys lone his only end.

He rode through sunsets on his own
his horse the one he spoke to most
no home to ever return to
his happiness a shallow boast.

Then late one night in deep fatigue
his past returned to hold his hand
no longer must he ride alone
her heart was filled with understand.

They stood at waters edge that night
the moon rose bright to verify
no love is ever lost in truth
just hidden under clouded sky.

I came back for a re-read, as I like this line.

Hi Sandra, always enjoy the read, gives me a subject to reply to.

The cowboy left for freedoms chase
But never could her heart erase
The love he found in sweet surround
Still always turned him homeward bound

The suns which rose and those which set
Each day had filled him with regret
Till hands again one night did meet
With loves surround and kiss so sweet

Hoping you find love and joy.

Sincerely
Rick
