TICK TOCK

tick tock
tick tock
finches rock
above the walk

suspended there
late summer’s air
using perch
as dining chair

dip dip
peck peck
my turn, my turn
flit flutter
spit sputter

dip dip
peck peck
no, my turn!
no, my turn!

flit away
bomb back
tick tock
alarm’s attack

startle
chortle
all blast away
danger gone
their songs convey

return again
to tick and tock
to dip and peck
and feeder rock

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Oh, this is fun one to read, makes you smile when you read it out loud.
