In mile high city style
I followed my new trail,
to downtown Denver,
ridin the RTD and Light Rail.
I caught the #35 to connect with the#53,
saw the tail end of that bus as
it pulled away
right in front of me!
Next bus in half an hour.
Then I jumped on the "0" bus at a "Z" stop,
to head south for a job interview.
Got off at the next stop to cross the street
( I found out that bus was heading north!)
Then I discovered the light rail
was a quicker connect from spot "A" to spot "B"
and decided Denver's light rail
was the best bet for me.
But the "D" rail nearly crippled me,
I waited in vain downtown
for the "Englewood" train.
After 2 trains came and went
my patience was spent!
Then I found out it ws the "Mineral" route
train that stops in Englewood to let me out.
And once off the train,
a new dilemma, again!
Now which way is east?
North, West, South?
In the mile high noon sun
all directions merge as one.
so I waited awhile
in a suffering smile
for a kindly bro to tell me
which way to go.
And by the end of the day
I remembered my name,
and why I moved to Denver.
Now I'm OK.

It's good to be back 'home' at PIPS, where I never feel lost!

If you found your way back here...then you weren't really lost...and you still have your sense of humor!  Finding your way around with public transportation can be very confusing.

I enjoyed your poem!

Thank you Martie, Karilea, Duncan, Nancy, Sy, for the welcome back replies. Colorado is SOOOO cool, even when it's hot.  Writing "Rockies" nature poetry may take a while, but human nature will no doubt provide interesting subject matter,  and Denver has an endless supply of two legged creatures to observe.

Kacy!!!!!! You returned to ride the rails!
(Better than being 'rode out of town on a rail' don't you think?)  hehehe
How frustrating and charming this poem was.  My gosh, gal, we missed you and worried about you!  Oh yes we did, my precious!

Hah!  I bet you will write up a storm about Denver critters, and Kacy I hope your job interviews go really well for you, good luck (p.s. - how does our music lover in boots like it there?)  I hope the frustration of the city subsides adjusting is hard.  Nice to see you back.

I pass this way but once, here's hoping I meet you.   Sharon

Sharon, Sara is doing fine, she had great fun on the Island and is adjusting to Denver climate OK.
