Chocolate Trees

I went looking for rainbows
on a warm summer's eve
Dancing down an empty roadway
pretending to believe
that all the trees were chocolate
and the flowers frosting on a cake
and that all the birds were talking
of the houses they would make
They went about their business
busy with each single chore
reminding all the animals that they
were people once before
and than it suddenly happened
lightning flashed across the sky
the owls starting hooting and deer
began to hide
I felt the rain around me
soaking in my cotton clothes
my hair was wet and frazzled
as raindrops trickled down my nose
Well, just as I was running
and much to my surprise
down at the end of the roadway
and where the sun would rise
I saw a double rainbow
with colors in bright hues
of reds, greens and yellows
against the sky of blue
I never could have imagined
anything so vividly
Yes, God could make a rainbow
but, I made chocolate trees

"Rainbows and chocolate"?---What's not to like?!? This delightful poem makes me feel happy! I may have my feet firmly planted on "Earth" but the other half of me dwells in a magical world, such as you have described, as an "Angel"! tehe

I love everthing about this poem---the fantasy, the imagery, the rhyme and rhythm, the lightness of the mood---Thank you for starting my day off with a big SMILE !

SmartChick,

Wait till you eat the chocolate cherries that fall from the cherry tree.

Glad you enjoyed.

Noah,

I can see those yummy carmel fairies and the marshmellow unicorns. I love when you let your mind draw your innocense out. You are so unique, the purity of your thoughts are truly a gift.

Thank you.

Paladin,

I'm laughing so hard my stomache is hurting.

I'll never look at m&m's again the same.
