Loner's poem about men...inspired this...Why?
Heck,  if I could tell you that...I wouldn't
be here...

Thanx Loner...

I used to think I had to be someone else
that I might be loved better, liked more.
That....I might be popular, get the gold.

I used to try to make them smile, laugh
by being someone else....but why?
Why did I work so hard to not just
be me....

I thought they wouldn’t like me
not having much hair...
Or, that my front teeth were too big,
my walk too funny, my gait wrong.

That I wasn’t muscular enough to
be thought I had strength and power.
That...not being a “jock” made me
weak, effeminate, not masculine.

That...no matter what I tried and...
I tried many things, many times...
I never was who I thought I
should be...

Now, look at me....
No, I’m not Charles Atlas or Arnold.
I ain’t Einstein or Robert Redford.
I never got selected for class prezz.
Not even the book keeper...

Look at me....not through who I am,
but what I give to you....For,
through these words you see me,
the beauty and grace of me....

I am now, that person I wanted to
be, not for you....
But....just for me...

One Hundred Percent American Male....

With feelings and sensitivity too!!!

Yes we do Barry, and the vision one of a man who has found himself and can offer so much to a woman as "that" man. Not one you tried to be, just the one you are. Enjoyed this read very much!

BRAVO!!! Yes, and I believe it is that that truly makes a true man, the ability to feel, to cry, to reason, and you are filled with this virtue! As John Le Carre quotes, "He has the gift of quiet." To be quiet I believe one can find stillness and may will reach out with love! (big hugggsssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, I know Julie will be deeply touched by this, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

I truly enjoyed this piece, Barry...
I think that when people... men as well as women, reach a certain age... we realize that we don't have to pretend anymore...
Thats why I would hate to be young again.
Maturity may bring grey hair and wrinkles but it also brings self confidence...
This is a really terrific write!

Vandana,  thanx my friend...where is your
poetry?

Loner,  thanx for the inspire....

Anne,  yep,  just plain OLD ordinary and
maturing me....still growing..

Noah,  thanx young man....take with you the
wisdom of age,  that you might grow each
day and become who you want to be..

Lyra,  exactly.....and I think if more of
our young people could find the feeling
of security and comfort with one's self,
they would be light years ahead..... Imagine
where we might have been then...with what
we know now...what a thought!!!

Thanx dear lady...have an acorn.....on me..

Hi Magnus,

I truly enjoyed this poem.  It speaks for so many of us.  It certainly does
take maturity to reach this point but it is a great feeling.  I don't always live up to this ideal but most of the
time.  Thanks for sharing.  Helekin

Helekin,  I won't pretend to let anyone
think I am a man who has all his rocks in
one sock 24/7...cause I don't....But I am
learning that what I think of me is a far
greater thing than what anyone else ever
has...  I just have to remind ME once in
a while...

Thanx for the post...welcome to Passions...

One of the sexiest things about a man, for me, is for the man to know who he truly is---and to be proud to be that man! You are now  on your way to becoming one of the sexiest men in the U. S. of A.!

BTW---You look pretty good to me in your photo! Were you just fishing for compliments with this write?!? HeeeHeee!

Gosh, I really like reading your "stuff!"

Gosh Linda.....I think I will write about
three more of these poems...if you will
keep saying all those wowfull words...

Seriously....thank you....and I am just
expressing me...and who I was and sometimes
still am...and who I is....

No,  I was not fishing for compliments...
Just sometimes feel a touch of wanting to
express feelings....

If only more men could be like you, in expressing their feelings and taking a good look at who they are. This is a very "real" piece of writing and you have shown your strength by opening yourself up like that--- you let people in----and I for one, like what I see!

Darn good!
Honest
and also ispiring
so that we all might try to be a little
more of ourselves.
Indeed this poem expresses what every woman TRULY wants in a man.
not muscles or brains
but a versatility of being..
and an ability to express and listen to ideas
Nice ta read ya
